St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 901 Washington St.

 



    

St. Patrick's Church was established in 1838.  The present structure was built in 1894.  It is of a Romanesque style architecture and built of Bedford stone.  Thirty-two car loads of stone were required and 273,000 bricks went into the structure.  Despite its appearance, the structure is two stories, with the church proper located on the second floor, the fist floor originally was used as a school.
