Local NAACP branch to honor King legacy during annual remembrance breakfast
The Alexander-Pulaski Counties Branch of the NAACP will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the 13th annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast. The breakfast will be held 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at Meridian Elementary School Gym in Mounds. Guest speaker for the annual remembrance breakfast will be Rev. Isaac C. McCullough of Saint Ann, Mo. McCullough was licensed by Elizabeth Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga. of the National Baptist USA in Aug. 1986 and later ordained in the Gospel Ministry in January, 1987, He served with Christ Community United Methodist Church as interim pastor from Dec. 5, 1998 until June 30, 1999. On July 1, 1999, he was appointed by The Missouri Conference of The United Methodist Church as pastor. ÒThis was a wonderful ministry for both myself and my wife,Ó McCullough said. ÒWe enjoyed the fellowship with the families of Christ Community and the love shared with them and the community of Christ in Saint Louis. We have seen many great and wonderful things happening in this community.Ó McCullough holds a degre in Human Resource Management from Park University, Parksville, Mo. received in 2000. He graduated from Columbia College, St. Louis Campus with a degree in Psychology in 1999. He graduated from El Paso Community College in 1991 with a degree in Management. He graduated from Carver Bible College in Atlanta, Ga. in 1986 and attended Jericho Christian College from 1992-1993. McCullough has completed the first of three phases of the Intentional Interim Pastors Course. McCullough is associated with several different community service organizations, including: ¥ Committed Caring Faith Communities. As a faith-based organization, CCFC provides support and training that focuses on substance abuse, gambling, HIV/AIDS and other related programs throughout the state of Missouri. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board. ¥ Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice - Black Church Initiative. McCullough served as a consultant in Missouri to provide HIV/AIDS awareness, reduction of teenage pregnancy, and facilitation of healthy dialogue in the Black Churches in Spiritual and Sexuality Education. ¥ FRIENDS, a collaboration of 10 organizations under the leadership of Family Support America, where McCullough served on the Steering Committee. McCullough has also served as a board member of the Penrose-OÕFallon Family Learning Center. From Oct. 2000-Feb. 2003, McCullough worked as a parent liaison and then a youth mentor with Youth In Need - Project Youth Connect. McCullough served in the U.S. Army from September 17, 1967 until April 20, 1970. After he completed his military training, he was stationed in South Korea. Following his return to the United States, he was discharged from active duty and assigned to the United States Army Reserve Control Group. In June, 1974, McCullough joined the U.S. Army Reserves, serving in a Troop Program Unit until re-entering active duty in Aug. 1979, serving until his retirement in November, 2000. McCullough is the oldest of three children of the late Isaac P. McCullough and the late Georgiana Cooper Williams. He is married to the former Glenda D. Jones. The couple has one daughter, LaSharon McCullough of Conyers, Ga.
