Ethan Stringer scores 1,000th career point in Century rout
Ethan Stringer, a senior at Century High School, put an exclamation mark on an excellent career Saturday by scoring his one thousandth career point as the Centurions routed Ft. Bowman Academy of Cahokia 95-40.
Century raced to a 30-12 first quarter advantage in the first game of the Fourth Annual Country Insurance and Financial Services Martin Luther King Classic held at Meridian High School.
The Centurions stretched that lead to 52-25 at the half and 75-35 at the end of three.
Sophomore Chris Baker, already making a name for himself on the court, led all scorers with 29 points. Baker, fresh off of his All-Tournament selection at the Eldorado Holiday Tournament, was named game MVP.
Stringer topped 1,000 points in the second quarter on his second of five three-point baskets on the afternoon. He finished with 21 points.
James Baker added 18 points for Century.
Ft. Bowman, which only dressed five players, was led by Jerell Thomas with 13 points; Keven Steinhauer and Phillipe Weeden each scored 12.
