Dorothy Loraine Fitzgerald
Dorothy Loraine Fitzgerald, age 82, of Camden, SC, formerly of East
Cape, IL, died Friday, January 11, 2008 at Kershaw County Medical Center in
Camden, SC.
She was born on December 2, 1925 in Alexander County, IL to Robert and Nora
(Meyers) Dover. She married Walter Fitzgerald on December 28, 1946. He
preceded her in death on November 2, 1983.
She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by 3 sons, Jim Fitzgerald and Allen Fitzgerald, both of
South Carolina and Charles ÒChuckÓ Fitzgerald of North Carolina; 5
grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Alfred Dover, Howard
Dover, Elroy Dover and Floyd Dover; 1 sister, Beverly McHarry; nieces,
nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and an infant sister.
Funeral services were held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Crain
Funeral Home, Tamms with Rev. Larry Buckles officiating. Interment followed
in St. JohnÕs Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 5:00 Ð 8:00PM, Monday, January 14, 2008 at Crain
Funeral Home, Tamms.

Janet L. (Walls) McBee
Janet L. (Walls) McBee, age 62, of Mounds died at 5 a.m. Sunday,
Jan. 13, 2008, at her home.
Janet was born May 12, 1945, Mound City, daughter of the late Roy L. Walls
and Edyth B. (Holdman) Walls.
Janet was a waitress with area restaurants and had owned and operated her
own restaurants in Cairo.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Roy in 2001; a son, Kenneth Don
Showalter III in 1972; and her mother, Edyth in December 2007.
Survivors include her children, Robert ÒBobbyÓ Martin, Shawn Smith,
Paducah, Ky., Tammy and Marty Youngblood, Mounds; grandson, Cody Youngblood;
two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy ÒBuddyÓ and Vicki Walls, Mounds,
Jerry and Debbie Walls, Urbandale; sister, Barbara Franklin, Wickliffe, Ky.;
and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at noon Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Jones
Funeral Home, Villa Ridge with Roy ÒBuddyÓ Walls, officiating. Interment
followed in the Beechwood Cemetery, Mounds.
Friends may call just prior to the services at noon Tuesday at the Jones
Funeral Home, Villa Ridge.

Ralph A. Lane
Ralph A. Lane, age 58, of Chicago, formerly of Pulaski, died Dec.
28, 2007 at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Ill.
Ralph was born Feb. 14, 1949, son of Phyllis ÒKittyÓ Lane-Powell and David
Powell. He attended Douglas High School in Mounds and graduated from Mounds
Meridian High School in 1968.
Ralph served in the military from 1968 to 1974 and was stationed in Germany.
He received an Honorable Discharge on June 1, 1974.
Mr. Lane worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail clerk for 33 years
until his retirement in 2005.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lovie B. Lane; aunt,
Lovie Mae Thompkins and father, David Powell.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Darlene Lane of Chicago;
mother, Phyllis Powell of Pulaski; seven children, Sharlene Perry of Gary,
Ind., Attlene Harris, Dorothy M. (McKinley) Gray, Dorothy J. Pugh, Betty J.
Pugh and Marvin (Shequila) Pugh of Chicago and william Pugh of Paducah, Ky.;
23 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; four sisters, Shirley (Oral)
Perkins, Brenda (David) Ballard, Pulaski, Christine Reed of Mound City,
Darlene Powell of Mounds; three brothers, Dewayne (Kathy) Lane of Cape
Girardeau, Mo.; Donald Powell of Clarksville, Tenn., and David Lee (Jean)
Powell of Hinesville, Ga.; three aunts, Rachel Adams of Pulaski, Irene
McBride of Jackson, Mo. and Gloria Wilmoth of Paducah, Ky.; one uncle,
Harold (Jo) Milbourne of Chicago; a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 6 at Corbin Colonia Funeral Chapel in
Chicago. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 7 with interment in the
Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill.
Mary Ruth Henderson
Mary Ruth Henderson, age 60, passed away Nov. 13, 2007.
She was the daughter of Sylvester and Odell Lovies of Ullin.
She married her childhood boyfriend, Nathaniel in 1965 and accompanied him
throughout his U.S. Air Force career until his retirement.
The family arrived in Fairfield from San Antonio, Tex. in 1980.
Mary is survived by her husband, Nathaniel; daughter, Carla Henderson-Covin
of Fairfield; son, Nathaniel, Jr. of San Francisco; and three grandchildren,
Natalia, Jerry and Jamie. Mary also has surviving siblings, Raymond Lovies
of Bakersfield, William Lovies of Mounds, Romelia Lovies-Newburn of Ullin
and Hazel Lovies-Mathis of Ullin.
A celebration of live was held Dec. 1, 2007 at 1 p.m. with Chaplain John
Harris delivering the eulogy.
